Painter and Sculptor

André Desjardins

Born in Hauterive, Quebec, in 1964, André Desjardins is a multidisciplinary artist recognized for his works imbued with serenity and depth. Since childhood, he has developed a fascination with creation, space, and artistic expression, which led him to study graphic design in Montreal. After a successful career in communications, he made a decisive shift to devote himself fully to art, guided by his muse, Hélène Bélanger-Martin.

For over 25 years, Desjardins has been building a personal body of work, somewhere between painting and sculpture, driven by a quest for inner peace and equanimity. His paintings, like his sculptures, invite contemplation, a pause from the tumult of the world. Each character he creates, whether he paints or models, seems suspended between fragility and strength, in a state of assumed fulfillment.

His creations quickly resonated with collectors in Canada, the United States, and internationally. His sensitive and timeless style propelled him onto the North American art scene, notably thanks to a collaboration with the prestigious American agency Masterpiece Publishing.

Desjardins is also the author of powerful monumental works, including the sculpture "LIBRE" , installed in Magog, and more recently an engaging public work on mutual aid and the environment.

Working without a model, he favors an intuitive approach where the hand and consciousness come together. For him, painting is sculpting light ; sculpting is meditating on matter . His work is deeply rooted in feeling, in the connection to the living, and in the desire to soothe and elevate.

Today, his works are part of numerous private and public collections. Large-scale projects are currently under development, always driven by the same vision: to create spaces of beauty, reflection, and presence.
