What is the history of the gallery

Founded by Caroline St-Pierre and Olivier Mineau, the Galerie d'art Berthelet was born in the context of a global pandemic, but this dream did not prevent the couple from opening this new cultural place bringing together a collection of modern and unique works of art.

Located in the heart of downtown Berthierville, the gallery wants to revive the vitality of the Place du Marché.

Olivier and Caroline want to take part in the development of visual arts in Lanaudière with dynamism and innovation.

Why the name Berthelet?

The word Berthelet comes from the establishment formerly called Le Château Berthelet, a hotel located near the Chenal du Nord, in Lanaudière. Kissed by the flames, at the end of the 70s, this cult place of the region was a place of meetings, shows and heritage culture. The name Berthelet was the perfect name to revive the desire to share ART.

We offer the option of shipping your prints directly to your home or you can arrange a gallery pickup.

What is the difference between all print media?

The choices of supports offered have been chosen with care and of very high quality. The majority of our print materials are ISO9706, i.e. museum compliant. The finishes are very different from one to another, going from matte to glossy, from a smooth finish to a textured finish and from paper to canvas.

Do I have to order a minimum quantity?

There is no minimum quantity to order prints.

How soon will my order be shipped or ready for pickup?

Once our team has checked your file, your project will be completed in more or less 4-5 working days.

If you have a tighter deadline, you can let us know and we will do our best to deliver your project as soon as possible.

Are there different print formats available?

Print formats are different from one project to another. The quality of the scan will dictate the maximum sizes.

How do I send my file?

We recommend saving your files in Adobe RGB mode, in the format; TIFF.

What is the best resolution to ask?

For inkjet printing, a resolution of 200dpi is recommended, at 300dpi printing is optimal.

What is the maximum inkjet print size?

We can print up to 44'' wide if the chosen media format allows it and we have no length limit.

Do prints lose quality over time?

We use pigment inks, designed to have high durability. The longevity of the colors and the paper will therefore depend on its framing and the place of hanging.

Digitization

What is the maximum size of a work that you can digitize?

There is no size limit.

What is the resolution of your scans?

Our scans are made using a 240 Megapixel camera. This gives a very high definition of the details of your work.

If I want to have a work digitized, how should I proceed?

You can make an appointment with us or drop off your work during our opening hours. A delay of approximately 4-5 days will be necessary before you can come and collect your work and your digital file.

I want to have a work digitized but do not want to print, is it possible?

It is indeed possible to have a work digitized without printing. The digital file will then be returned to you.

Artists

What information do I need to provide to apply as an artist?

We need your biography, an artistic approach that briefly summarizes your work, your curriculum vitae, preferably in connection with your artistic career, as well as good resolution photos of your latest creations.

Do the artists sign a non-competition contract?

The gallery promotes the development of the artist, the artist has the possibility of exhibiting everywhere and this, without restriction of territory.

Is it possible to rent the gallery for a vernissage of my works?

It is possible to rent our spaces for a temporary exhibition. We offer a support service that meets your needs.

I have submitted my works for an appeal, what is the next step?

Our team will study your artistic file carefully. We will contact you if your application is accepted.

Why are my works not selected in the call for submissions?

Currently we are working with a limited number of artists.

What are the selection criteria for a work?

The technical quality of the work is essential, the finish of the renderings and the work must follow a consistency in direct connection with your artistic approach.

How can I have a section dedicated to my name on your site?

To have a section dedicated to your work, you must present your file in the “Call for file” section on our website.

Indeed, the gallery offers the possibility of paying in several installments, varying from 2 to 6 months depending on the value of the work. Payment sales must however be made at the gallery.

Which transport company delivers the works?

We work with several transport companies. The choice of carrier varies according to the value of the work and the shipping location. 

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Items purchased online can be exchanged within 72 hours from the date of receipt. You must contact us immediately by email at info@galerieberthelet.com or by phone at 1-450-803-1752.

Note that if customs fees have been paid upon receipt by the buyer, they cannot be reimbursed.

The work must be returned in perfect condition and in its original packaging (or equivalent packaging).

Works returned damaged or soiled by the Buyer will not be taken back or refunded, the Galerie d'Art Berthelet reserving this choice at its sole discretion.

If the buyer wishes not to replace the work immediately, a gift card or a credit note will be given to him.

If I order a work, how soon will I receive it?

Orders are usually processed and shipped within 48 hours. However, some orders may take longer due to framing, for example. Delivery times vary from place to place.

Indeed, the Galerie d'Art Berthelet offers certain companies a work of art rental service. A personalized service is offered according to your needs.

What are the tax advantages in Quebec and Canada to have works?

Purchasing a work of art will allow you to reduce your taxes:

The tax depreciation granted represents an eligible expense of 20% of the cost of the work at the federal level (category 8) and 33.33% in Quebec (category 8.1). Also, considering the accelerated depreciation allowed by the current rules, a work acquired after November 20, 2018 may grant you, during its first year of amortization, a deduction of 30% of its cost at the federal level and 50% in Quebec.

– If, rather than selling the work of art, it is donated to a recognized organization, this will allow you to claim a deduction for charitable donation.


In addition, if this same work of art qualifies as cultural property, the capital gain following this disposition may be exempt.

What are the different types of editing?

There are different types of editions using different techniques and materials. Here are the most important:
