Kill Bill
Born in Trois-Rivières (Québec, CAN), Billy-William Larouche worked for several years as a cabinetmaker where he was able to use his talent to create unique pieces, combining wood and metal. Then, he began his art at the same place where his great-grandfather worked as a blacksmith, at the Salamandre forge in Mauricie, QC. It is from this place that his passion for forged sculpture was born. Nature, with its multitude of shapes, rhythms, colors and silhouettes are his sources of inspiration.
Bill Larouche, a self-taught sculptor, draws his inspiration from animal themes and totems. With remarkable skill in manipulating steel, he creates works where pronounced textures give each subject a striking elegance. Larouche manages to capture the precise moment of the subjects and freeze them in time through sculptures decorated with welds and steel. His talent lies in the way he superimposes the fragility of beings with the representation of a solid and robust medium, thus creating a singular harmony.
