Painter, sculptor, blacksmith-welder

Marie-Josee Roy

Marie-Josée Roy was born in 1968 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. In 1992, she completed her BACC in Fine Arts at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. She then obtained her general welding diploma in 1997. She then pursued various training courses in the field of bronze and aluminum casting at the Trois-Rivières foundry school.

Marie-Josée Roy practices two disciplines, painting and sculpture. These disciplines are linked to each other, to the artist, to his environment, to the materials, to the viewer, to all of these at once. The common denominator between the two expressions is metal, a material for which she has discovered a spontaneous affinity.

The artist has exhibited in Toronto, New York, Europe, Boston, Australia and the United States, as well as in many cities across Canada.
