Sylvain Coulombe

Sylvain Coulombe, born in Montreal in 1971, is a painter whose work is part of a profound quest for expression and emotion. A graduate in Environmental Design at UQAM, he discovered architecture and the infinite potential of creation, a path that led him to explore various materials such as steel, glass, concrete, resin and wood. His early work focused on sculpture, where he shaped clay into monochrome bas-reliefs, before gradually integrating acrylic paint to breathe life and dynamism into his creations.

Over time, Sylvain abandoned sculpture to devote himself fully to painting, developing a unique artistic style mixing abstraction and enigmatic characters. His works are characterized by deep lines, symbols of the passage of time, and rich textures that translate intense emotions and silent stories. Through his creations, he explores human connections, the traces left by evolution and buried feelings, giving birth to a visual universe that is both powerful and introspective.

Each painting reflects his desire to establish a common language between the artist and his subjects, highlighting the complexity of our existences and the invisible mechanisms that connect us. His works captivate with their ability to provoke intimate reflection and evoke the raw beauty of our humanity.
